It started in the late 70's - the deconstruction of America's Independently owned Media. It's when the Corporate Conglomerates took over and started the demise of our beloved TV and Movies and News. it's no accident there's nothing to watch on TV and movies are swill for mindless violence or the 99th sequel of the same old, same old. All the art and controversy has been sucked out of the creative process, leaving bean counters to OK bad ideas.
Rob Reiner said he couldn't get funding for When Harry Met Sally in today's marketplace. They won't fund anything but action movies, with no content, nor moral dilemma, no human connections, no meaning. If the good guys kill as many people as the bad guys, where is the moral in that? What makes them good? Nothing. It's junk food movies.
Radio is mostly canned content now, played across the country to homogenize us all. Talk radio is mostly propaganda, creating mind-set based on lies and half truths so people don't get together to confront the corporate control of our airwaves. Small towns don't even have real people working at the stations and there is no local news or local input. It's really not republican vs democrat, its corporate power vs the people.
Did you also know we are the only industrial nation who allows majority ownership of our media by a foreigner? Rupert Murdock and Fox to be exact. How did this happen? He ran a campaign in the late 90's and convinced the idiots in congress that it was a good thing. Where would we be without Fox News? I'd sure like to find out.
You HAVE TO WRITE LETTERS TO CONGRESS and get these people to wake up and stop the monopolies. Stop the ability of a radio station to tell lies 24/7 and block anyone from responding to their lies. You have to break up the monopoly of 9 white guys owning everything in TV. Private investors can't be hidden behind a corporate veil and own our media.
