Oh my. Where to begin? The country is in shambles because Big Business has stolen our country out from under us. Our Congress has sold us out for money and power. The Bill of Rights, The Constitution and Habeas Corpus are gasping for air. And our unrest is heard no where because the same corporations own our media.
The bottom line is you have to get involved. You have to find the time and energy to educate yourself about what is REALLY going on. Republicans and Democrats alike are no longer serving the people. Here are some ways to know more so when they lie, you KNOW it, 'cause the talking heads, or should I say Game Show Hosts, aren't going to.
VOTING
You HAVE to vote. No excuses. None. So register and do your patriotic duty every two years and what you are required to do in a Democracy. I honestly think people who don't vote should be fined. Don't like the two party system? Well there are lots of other parties on those ballots the media never mentions. Pick one of these brave men or women who are trying to make a difference and serve their country.
VOLUNTEER Instead of spending so much time roaming the malls in search of the one purchase that will make you truly happy (it never will), using that time to help others will give you the feeling you're seeking. There is nothing more rewarding for YOU than giving your time and attention to another. Whether its playing checkers with the elderly at a nursing home or cleaning up a beach strewn with trash, you'll make a difference and you'll make new friends, and you'll find that good feeling you've been shopping for has finally happened.
ACTION I'm a Democrat fed up with a lot of member of my party (who are these blue dog democrats for instance, or why shouldn't the rich and powerful be brought to court?) on many levels, and I have voted for Republicans in local elections. I think the system is broken but thankfully our system allows the people to get involved and make changes. Obama has inspired me. Will he do everything he says. Hell no. But even some of it is the right path, while we continue to work in the background to bring America back to the people and away from the power brokers. So pick a candidate or a cause that moves you and get involved. You didn't really think it would be easy did you? But the reward is knowing you made America a better place. And you'll walk with a sense of purpose and pride. Sounds like a plan.
